Charlottenburg Innovation Centre Backs 60 Startups Generating €22 Million Annually

The Charlottenburg Innovation Centre has opened a 5,000 m² extension that added 50 new tenants in 2024, giving established occupants and fresh arrivals direct access to expanded laboratory and office space on the Campus Charlottenburg site.

Why the expansion matters for local founders

Companies already operating inside the centre benefit from immediate proximity to Technische Universität Berlin and other research institutes along Bismarckstraße and Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Straße. The additional floor area allows existing teams to scale without leaving the district while new entrants gain entry to the same university-linked networks.

Startups such as KIProtect, MAASU and Amphiprion focus on machine-learning applications, while Sphaira develops healthcare robotics for patient transport and CESS Clean Energy System Solutions works on energiewende projects. These firms share the site with storyfeed GmbH and mapegy GmbH, both of which moved in after the 2024 renovation.

Role of the UNITE alliance in sustaining growth

The centre functions as a central hub within the UNITE alliance, a network of more than 50 partners across Berlin-Brandenburg that promotes science-based company formation. This structure channels research outputs from TU Berlin and surrounding institutions into commercial activity without requiring founders to relocate.

The 2024 project, funded at €24 million, increased total incubator capacity and created room for further tenants focused on IT, software and hardware development. Current occupants already account for 708 employees and more than €22 million in yearly sales, figures recorded before the newest arrivals began operations.

Founders seeking corporate pilots or specialist hires continue to locate at the site because of its concentration of established research partners. The centre’s role as a Zukunftsort therefore provides a stable platform for both scaling existing operations and onboarding additional science-driven teams.
