Haryana Transforms Three Cities Into Wedding Destinations With Budget Infrastructure Push

Gurugram, along with Kharkhoda and Pinjore in Haryana, has been selected to develop as a Wedding City under the Sagaai se Vidaai concept in the 2026-27 budget to promote local employment. The designation arrives alongside specific infrastructure allocations that address traffic and access issues tied to large events.

Path to the 2026-27 Budget Decisions

State planners identified Gurugram as a focal point because existing traffic patterns around wedding venues already strain key junctions. The budget therefore pairs the Wedding City label with road projects that predate the announcement and were designed to improve movement on major routes. Haryana separately advanced a 250-acre integrated destination wedding hub in Manesar to consolidate services in one location.

Named Upgrades Tied to Gurugram Junctions

Major infrastructure upgrades for Gurugram include an 8-lane, 5.1 km elevated corridor from NH-48 to Vatika Chowk at Rs 1,065 crore and an 8.84 km elevated stretch to Ghaata village at Rs 1,846 crore. Five new flyovers at key junctions in Gurugram, including Ambedkar Chowk and Millennium City Centre, receive Rs 302 crore to ease traffic congestion caused by wedding events. These corridors and flyovers directly reference locations already used for large gatherings.

Parallel Planning in Telangana

Telangana Tourism plans to ground development in 2026 for international wedding destinations at Nagarjunasagar, Baswapur and Somasila, focusing on river and reservoir landscapes. The timeline aligns with the Haryana budget cycle and reflects similar state-level interest in structured wedding infrastructure.

Implementation will follow the budget allocations already approved, with the Manesar hub and Gurugram corridors serving as the immediate physical changes. Residents and businesses can track project milestones through the Haryana public works department updates once construction schedules are released.
