The district office of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf has made the draft of urban development plan 4-60 publicly accessible. The plan covers the area between the Spree, Englische Straße, Hannah-Karminski-Straße and Gutenbergstraße. Public comments are accepted until August 8.
Plan 4-60 proposes new residential units, offices and shops. It also includes a continuous pedestrian and bicycle path along the Spree. The plan was prepared under the expedited process of §13a of the Building Code, which removes the requirement for an additional environmental assessment.

The same district office has adopted urban development plan 4-62 in Spreestadt Charlottenburg. This plan will create approximately 240 apartments, including 60 social housing units. It also provides a 12.5-meter-wide public green belt along the Spree between Hannah-Karminski-Straße, Gutenbergstraße and Margarethe-Kühn-Straße. The area is designated an Urban Area under §6a BauNVO, allowing mixed residential, commercial, social and cultural uses where residential use is not significantly disturbed.
These planning decisions affect daily movement and housing options for people living and working along the Spree in Charlottenburg. New residential units and the riverside path connect directly to existing streets and open spaces used by local residents for commuting and recreation.

Documents for plan 4-60 can be viewed at the district office on Hohenzollerndamm 174, Room 5074. Viewing hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday and 9 am to 1 pm on Friday. Residents can review the details and submit comments before the August 8 deadline.
The next step is the formal public participation period. Comments received by August 8 will be considered as the process continues under the applicable building regulations.
