Under the new measure, Mitte will receive targeted funding for resurfacing segments of the central ring road and extending two bus lines by 4.2 kilometres total. Construction crews are scheduled to begin work on the ring road section near the district administrative offices in October 2026, according to the bill's implementation timeline attached to the legislation.

Residents who rely on those routes can expect temporary lane closures during weekday hours, while households along the planned bus extensions may gain stops within 300 metres of their addresses. Local advocates note that community centres and small retail strips not located on the selected corridors will continue to operate without additional state support for access improvements.

Budget figures and next steps

The legislation states that 12 million euros will cover the Mitte road works and 6 million euros will fund the transit additions, leaving a 9 million euro shortfall compared with last year's combined local requests submitted to the state capital works committee.

Implementation begins with public notices issued by the Mitte district council in August, followed by contractor bidding rounds in September. District officials have indicated that any remaining funds after the designated projects will return to the state pool rather than support other Mitte proposals.
