Neukölln Opens New Participation Hub, Launches Hermannplatz Planning Initiative

Neukölln district has created a new central Anlaufstelle für Beteiligung to handle resident input on local matters. The service is currently reachable only by telephone and will begin offering fixed consultation hours at the Engagement-Zentrum on Hertzbergstraße 22 from April 2026.

The change affects how Neukölln residents engage with district planning decisions. Until the in-person hours start, people seeking information or wishing to contribute must use the telephone line. This single contact point replaces the need to approach multiple offices for participation opportunities.

Hermannplatz consultation begins

Public participation on the future of Hermannplatz started on 9 July 2026. The process opened with a baseline assessment and includes planned online surveys plus workshops hosted on the mein.berlin.de platform. Residents can take part in these formats to record their views on the square and surrounding area.

The timing links directly to the new contact point. People who want to join the Hermannplatz discussion can now call the Anlaufstelle for guidance on how to register for the surveys and workshops. The Mitmach-Laden operated by Bürgerstiftung Neukölln at Jonastraße 26 has also moved into new premises since November 2025 and serves as an additional local venue for engagement activities.

The district administration will expand the Anlaufstelle to include regular office hours at Hertzbergstraße 22 once April 2026 arrives. Until then, telephone contact remains the only channel.
