The legislation specifies that 850,000 euros will go toward hiring six additional social workers and extending operating hours at three community centers until 8 p.m. on weekdays. Another 650,000 euros will support an increase in home visit slots for elderly residents from 1,100 to 1,450 per month. The remaining 300,000 euros will cover supplies and transportation for after-school programs serving 320 children. The assembly passed the measure by a 28-to-9 margin with no amendments.

Local residents will notice changes first at the Pankow community center on Breite Strasse, where intake appointments for family counseling will increase from 45 to 70 per week. Seniors in Weissensee can expect shorter wait times for meal delivery services once the new staff begin work. Families with school-age children in Prenzlauer Berg will gain access to two additional after-school activity slots per week at the Zeiss-Gross-Berlin facility.

Implementation Timeline and Oversight

The district administration states that recruitment for the new positions will begin within 30 days, with the expanded services projected to reach full operation by October 1.
