Under the formula, Prenzlauer Berg will receive funds calibrated to its 2025 registered population and its share of pre-1990 building stock. Residents can expect scheduled resurfacing on selected segments of Danziger Strasse and continued maintenance of the Ernst-Thälmann-Park grounds, both listed in the Senate budget papers as priority items for the coming year.
City records show the formula compares Prenzlauer Berg directly with Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and Steglitz-Zehlendorf on metrics of green-space square metres per resident. The comparison determines whether additional operating grants for playground equipment and path repairs are released in the second quarter of 2026.
Local advocates note that the same calculation applied to Tempelhof-Schöneberg produced a higher per-hectare road maintenance line item because of that district’s larger share of arterial routes. Prenzlauer Berg therefore receives a proportionally smaller amount for equivalent work on narrower residential streets.

The Senate Department for Finance will publish the final per-district figures in the official gazette by 31 August. District office staff in Prenzlauer Berg will then open the annual consultation period on how the allocated amounts are spent on specific street and park projects.
