Work at the Oderstraße site included replacement of the ammonia refrigeration plant and installation of an upgraded exhaust air system designed to handle emergency situations. These changes address long-standing maintenance needs that forced the earlier closure.
Practical details for Neukolln skaters
A free preview session called “Open Ice Rink” is set for the evening of 1 November between 4 pm and 7 pm. Regular sessions begin the next day. Single-session tickets are listed at 4 euros, with reduced rates at 2 euros. Season passes are available for 100 euros or 30 euros for concessions. Skate rental ranges from 3.50 euros to 8 euros depending on duration. All purchases take place at the on-site ticket office.
The Berlin announcement notes that the Horst Dohm stadium in Wilmersdorf, facilities at the Sportforum in Hohenschönhausen, the Paul-Heyse-Straße complex in Prenzlauer Berg and the Lankwitz rink in Steglitz are also expected to open this season, with one notable exception in Mitte. Neukolln users therefore gain a fully modernised local alternative without needing to travel across the city.
